Don't be angry with me: New Rolling Stones is just what we needed
The new song speaks to a new generation of rock fans
The worst thing any iconic band can do is change their sound. Thankfully, The Rolling Stones didn’t do that at all.
The single “Angry” sounds like it could have been made by telling an AI to “Write me a Rolling Stones song.” Therefore, it’s perfect.
A Billboard article from 2019 confirms: Gen Z can’t get enough of “their parents’” music—although I’m not sure how much I appreciate that sentiment. The popularity of media like “Daisy Jones and the Six” or new bands like Greta Van Fleet and Maneskin proves that we love our classic, 60s-80s rock sound.
Maybe it all started with Stevie Nicks’ appearance in American Horror Story: Coven or the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody in 2018, but believe it or not, my generation really, really loves classic rock—and The Stones seem to know it. Keeping their same sound, the band is actually catering to a new audience.

The music video stars Euphoria actress Sydney Sweeney, and depicts the star dancing in a convertible driving down LA’s Sunset Strip, surrounded by billboards, just as it did in back in the day, according to a TikTok posted to the band’s account. That’s the other thing, the Stones are killing it on TikTok right now.
Promoting on TikTok, casting a popular 20-something actress in their music video, and staying true to their original sound proves that the Stones are reaching out to a new audience.
